september trip to wales, advice please

ok a friend and i shall be taking a trip to the snowdonia nation park for a 3 day cycling holiday.
where are the best areas to stay for road cycling? (we were hoping to go on the snowdonia train thing so near there would be best)
This is being done on as tight budget as possible as my friend just had a baby, is there much cheap accomodation around in september ive been looking at log cabins and caravans but havnt decided on location yet!!
Any help/advice would be great this is our first cycling holiday..

I got a very good price recently at the Royal something or other in Llanberis (right opposite the mountain railway station). Massive Victorian pile with hundreds of rooms and several bars. Laterooms is your friend.0
