Sturmey Archer 8 speed hubs for single speed conversion

I have decided that I want some gears for my one and only bike which has track dropouts. After researching my options I have decided that the Sturmey Archer X-RF8(w) is my best option.

Has anybody used Sturmey Archer 8 speed hubs and how good/bad are they?
