The accident on London Bridge

Did anyone see the accident with a female cyclist and motorbike this morning? She really didn't look like she was going to pull through :(

last night I was stressed and gutted that I have to replace my front fork (or just buy a new bike) as I was hit by a car pulling out of a side road who didn't see me a few weeks ago. It really does put everything in to perspective and a damaged front fork/bike really isn't even an issue in the grand scheme of things.

No, I went through a bit later than normal, probably crossed LB at 8.30 but there was no sign of anything. Hope it's not as serious as you said it looked.

I decided to run to work today and there appear to have been accidents on both London Bridge and Blackriars!

Possibly motorbike/pedestrian collision. Roads closed, someone mentioned an air ambulance. Really hope it's not as bad as it sounds.

Just seen someone posting on twitter about it, motorbike vs cyclist, the Hems air ambulance landed at the end of the bridge.

I saw the aftermath of the Blackfriars Bridge accident. Again, hope the cyclist is ok.

The LCC is doing some campaigning to get a 20mph speed limit on London bridges. Would be good to show support for the motion:

    http://lcc.org.uk/articles/show-your-su ... lackfriars
"This Assembly regrets the Mayor's failure to retain the temporary 20mph speed limit on Blackfriars Bridge in the permanent new scheme for the bridge.

We note the recommendation for a 20 mph speed limit on four London bridges in a 2008 Transport for London report, and the recent decision of the Corporation of London to ask officers to bring forward plans for the whole of the City of London to become a 20mph zone, including TfL roads.

We ask the Mayor to reconsider his rejection of a 20mph limit on Blackfriars Bridge, in the interests of the safety of all its users."

I arrived at LB shortly after the helicopter had landed. Police had cordoned off the south entrance to the bridge and there were loads of police and ambulances parked up.

Couldn't really see what had happened, but didn't make an effort to rubberneck, unlike the hordes of people lining the pavement, taking pictures and video

City of London Police joined Met colleagues from Southwark in controlling traffic and crowds as communters waited to photograph the helicopter taking off.
I don't get this. What possible use are people just hanging around trying to get a view of someone injured :x

When I used to walk over London Bridge to work there was crazy behaviour from everyone - buses, cars, taxis, bikes - the lot.

Everyone on that bridge seems to be hell-bent on getting to work at light-speed.

My local air ambulance is based about 4 miles from where I live (straight line) see the thing all the time going over. Would add that I am a regular sponsor (standing order) as I think they do a great job.

Hope she does pull through - must have been one hell of a crash

    However:

    1) Pick one of the following
    - Motorcyclist
    - Pedestrian
    - Cyclist

    2) Insert into sentence
Is this the time to start a campaign on the BBC to make all [insert here] wear helmets and discuss forcing them to have a licence to use the roads? It's only a matter of time before someone is killed or seriously injured, surely.

Bet one of the options is trotted out again in some format before too long.

If I'm on the right tracks, the one on Blackfriars' Bridge was van vs cyclist

The cyclist was the head of the Royal College of GPs - she's got a broken ankle, inter alia

My condolences to the family and friends of the London Bridge cyclist

It's just a hill. Get over it.

If only that were the case. I work on the motorways in incident management. People love taking photos of gore. The worst was a suicidal woman hanging off an overbridge. Traffic was stopped and there was a huge crowd of people waving their phones and cameras around.

It does my f***ing head in.

This is not in the vein of "I can do better than that" but:

some 'people' in the crowd actually goaded him to jump and then filmed him as he did.

    RIP - very sad.

I still can't believe the sheer number of people who stopped to 'watch' and even worse filming it on their phones :(.

Whatever happened to allowing people, in whatever state a bit of dignity? And privacy for goodness sake, this is not casualty or E.R and everyone's seen a helicopter/ambulance/police car before.
