if you do, then your call centre people are morons!!!!

we keep getting sent talk talk home phone and broadband letters to our office - that's in the middle of an industrial estate with no houses withing at least 2 miles - addressed to a guy who has never worked for our company. we're getting around 2 a week these days, i decided to call talk talk today to tell them to stop sending them as it's a waste of paper, their time etc etc.

i got 1 girl who couldn't grasp what i was trying to say, who then passed me onto someone slightly less moronic, who asked for my account number - i don't have one, what's your address? - i'm not calling about my address, what's the phone number you're calling up about?- i'm not calling up about a phone number.....i then proceed to explain again why i'm calling.......well it's addressed to mr rochester and i can only deal with him......HE'S NOT HERE, HE'S NEVER BEEN HERE, IT'S A FOOKING INDUSTRIAL ESTATE......IF HE OWES YOU MONEY YOU WON'T FIND HIM HERE!!!! YOU GET WHAT I'M SAYING???????

sorry sir i don't think i can help you, you'll have to write us a letter telling us mr rochester has moved....WTF?!? am i talking english here?

click..i gave up.....morons

Yes, the company as a whole is terrible. They rang us up a couple of years ago asking if we wanted to change our internet to their service. We said no. A few days later our internet went down, and a Talk Talk router turned up - they just went ahead and changed it anyway!

After going off alarming we eventually got back to AOL (incidently, these own talk talk), and TT charged us £100 disconnection. I then got the ban stick out and threatened their children and it was eventually sorted. Was offline for 3 weeks. But ended up with two free routers, as AOL sent us another!

The thing to remember is that the folk in the call centres almost never have any contact with the mailing folk (and it's impossible to do so). I've dealt with this problem when working for both internet providers and banks. It's amazing there is no communication there but that's big business for you.

As for the lassie being a bit of an idiot... don't be surprised. The amount of people who haven't got a clue as soon as you deviate from the usual questions is frightening. The other person asking you those questions (phone number, address, a/c number) was being logical. If you're being sent stuff (presumably about unpaid bills) then that says there is an active account. Give the details on the letter and the dude should have flagged it up to the billing dept to be dealt with. That you're not the account holder is irrelevant. As long as he says it'll be dealt with he's not breaching DPA (A lot of folk get shit feart when DPA is an issue...perhaps that was why he was a scudbook).

IF THERE IS ONE USEFUL THING I TELL YOU ON THIS FORUM IT IS THIS: NEVER GO WITH TALK TALK! We went with them for our phone and broadband and we got a 'privercy pack' for free, this was supposed to stop cold calls, we got loads of cold calls so we phoned them up and asked why we were still getting them, they said that for an extra £3 per month they would make them stop, we said no, you said for free. In the end we switched back to BT, they wanted over £70 for breaking the contract, we said f**k off, you were the ones that broke the contract with the privercy pack, so we went to the bank to cancel the direct debit and they set up 2 (why?) We ended up calling the Ombudsman who dealt with it over months of receiving threatening letters from debt collectors. We won the case though. But they still send us marketing bullsh*t through the post and they even sent us leaflets saying recommend us to s friend in the same envelope they sent the 'we want your f*****g money' letters in.

Absolute set of c0ck sucking spazwangling motherf*****g dope faced toss pots!

I doubt anyone'll own up after the CC 'customer feedback' :)

I'm a Talk Talk customer for my sins. I get wound up at just the idea of having to deal with them on the phone. They are feckin' idiots

Does anyone know if I change my broadband connection to (say) BT, can I keep the email address that was originally set up with Tiscali? (now part of talk Talk). AFAIK I pay for a Broadband connection and the email was chucked in for free, but their website FAQ doesn't say anything and I really don't want to try calling them to ask !

If they are anything like most other companies then the answer is no. Only ones who let you keep the email is AOL (and if I mind right you had to still pay them for the AOL service...)

I may bite the bullet try calling them to see. If they are as incompetent as we reckon, they may forget that I have an email account (wishful thinking).

They're better than Sky, who charge you premium rate to talk to their useless customer service reps, whilst constantly being reminded that "This call is free from a Sky landline". IF I HAD A F**KING WORKING LANDLINE, WHY WOULD I BE ON THE PHONE TO YOU.

Then you get through, and they're Scottish, it just gets worse.

Or he's Scottish and it's him on the other end of the phone.
And about the E-mail address, why not just make a new one?
Try Hotmail.com or Mail.com or something, they're free. I have about 8 email addresses now due to forgetting passwords, using for different purposes and generally forgetting those E-mail addresses existed in the first place.

Bails, thanks mate. So you just ditched your TalkTalk broadband contract and kept signing in to webmail as usual?

I want to keep it as I sign up to a lot of stuff like banks, credit cards etc using that address as well as that's my main email for friends & family etc.

Yep, just go onto the Tiscali website (which may now be the talktalk website) and log in with XXXXXXX@tiscali.co.uk. We've also got an @sky email address, but only use that as the username on the router to connect to the internet.
