hmmmm interesting one
personally i would use my normal DIY tools and only spend my money on special bike tools, starting with a cheap (£30ish) torque wrench and chain link tool. Then buy tools as you need them.
most of the bits in those tool kits you would hardly ever use anyway.

Lidl were doing a kit for £25 last week, looked ok0

thanks guys for spending time on your reply!
I really really appreciate it!
I suppose Id just buy the lidl tool kit and buy the important ones as andy said!
thanks!0 -
yup have the lidl one, already got most of them but couple I don't, get a decent chain link tool though as you don't want to damage a new chain.Say... That's a nice bike..

imho don't get a kit unless you know you really need most of the contents
carrying a small multitool on rides can avoid being stuck on the road, you can get one with with hex keys, screwdriver, chain tool and spoke wrenches - it'll double for home servicing use, so imho a much better buy than a toolkit
get a crank brothers speed lever as well for easy tyre removal/replacement
get a rema tiptop tt02 (sport) puncture repair kit - this is the road version, don't get one meant for fatter tyres
aside from that, bigger stuff like a pedal wrench, or cassette/bb adaptors etc. you can get if/when needed, they won't get a lot of use
depending on the wheels, a couple of cone spanners may be needed for adjusting hubs, but just buy the size(s) you really needmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
FWIW I would not buy a tool kit. Just get the tools you need and build up a collection.
Just had a quick look on CRC and £50.00 will get you (all Park Tool stuff so quality)
Folding Allen Keys £10.00
Pedal Spanner £11.00
Tyre levers £3.00
Chain Tool £13.00
BB removal tool - £15-18 depending on your bike
OK a bit over £50.00 but those are the items you'll use the most to start off with. Add cable cutters, chain whips etc later on.
I started off with Topeak Alien - now look
Basso Astra
Principia Ellipse SX
Kinesis Racelight 4S
Kinesis Crosslight Pro Disc0
