Will be riding from Ilfracombe to Clevedon in a couple of weeks time.
Intend riding over Exmoor to Bridgewater area (except for being a bit "lumpy bumpy" this looks fairly straightforward) mainly following B3358 & B3224.
- Any suggestions for reasonably priced accommodation in or around Bridgewater area appreciated. -
Our intention is to ride from Bridgewater to Axbridge & then on the "Strawbeery Line" cycle route to Clevedon.
The area that is difficult to plan would appear to be the route out of Bridgewater & across to Axbridge, this looks nice & flat however it does seem to wind around quite a lot & one cannot make out on an OS map if some of the roads/tracks are rideable.
Would be appreciative if anybody has any suggestions or recommendations.

  • I'd head east through Chedzoy (just because the name is great!) through Sutton Mallet to Shapwick with as little time as possible on the A39. From there the road Shapwick to Westhay to Wedmore to Cheddar is nice and rideable on road bike. I assume you know the Strawberry line is not tarmac?
(Also going via Cheddar give you the option to go up Cheddar Gorge if your legs feel good.)

Hi Nick - Many thanks for your reply, that looks on the OS map to be a good route, also pretty flat. Will probably need that having come over Exmoor the previous day!
