Just got a boardman comp racing bike 2010 and have noticed that on the chain ring it says ten speed. Yet when i looked at the cassette it only has 9 sprokets. Is this normal and does it mean that I can add a sproket.
Im new to all this and am some what confused.
Thanks

Thanks for that Chris, would I not be able just to add one extra sproket.
Like I said im knew to all this0 -
no as Chris said your current shifter will only shift for a 9 speed cassette so you'd need a 10 speed shifter and a new cassette, you can't just add a cog afaik!ARTHUR

I think so
the only difference i think is that my bike is 2010 not 20080 -

Then that's how it is. The 2011 is 10 speed I believe but not the 2010, says 18 speed wherever I've seen.

it'll say 10 speed on the chainring as it will compatible with a 10 speed cassette if it had one fitted.ARTHUR

Well for a 9 or 10 speed the action of shifting the front ring wont be any different.. so maybe you just have a component branded for 10spd (more expensive?) but only used for 9 speed.
Wouldnt worry about it too much0
