Hi,
I have just organised getting the above bike through the cycle to work scheme.
I'm going to be using the bike for commuting to and from work (12.5 miles each way).
I have added a pannier rack and panniers to this.
THe Bike shop have added a front suspension mudguard.
I have asked them about a rear mudguard, but they keep saying that i don't need one as i have panniers on there.
Is this true or can i add a rear mudguard?
Thanks
Satpal

Some racks have a solid top-plate which acts as a semi-mudguard. Full-length, bolt-on mudguards such as SKS chromoplastic are highly recomended if your bike has the threaded eyelets. They keep your clothing, panniers and bike free of road muck.
My commuting bike always has full length mudguards, I wouldnt ride without them.0 -
My rack has a top deck but water still sparys forward through and down the back of the seat tube and down your legs (It rained just after I took my rear guard off for summer!) I use a very short mudgaurd (when I was a kid it was a racing mud guard....) to come forward from under the rack to prevent this (in winter). The guard is just about visible in this (old pic) of my bike.

Looks like you have just found out that fitting mudguards to a bike with disc brakes can sometimes be difficult. So difficult in fact, that even the chap in the bike shop can't do it.0

Thanks for the replies.
I might have to goto the local bike shop and ask if they can recommend any.
@The Beginner: How did you mount the mudgaurd, as the fitting on the normal mount point is not horizontal but vertical
Really liking the bike having done my commute on it a few times now.
