You need to do lots and lots of hills, also take it easy on the way down Honister it's very steep with sharp bends.

Everyone I speak to Says the same . The downhill is something to be wary of.

I did The Fred a couple of years back and a lad was air lifted off from the bottom of Hardknott, speaking to him later he said he'd exhausted himself going up and then found he physically couldn't brake hard enough on the severe decent. so fit something like kool stop pads to give yourself half a chance. Looking forward to the ride now, doing Boltby 3 or 4 times a week but lacking any proper distance rides.

The tarmacs a bit chewed up and humpy with braking from cars on the straight bit before the bridge corner FYI. It won't affect me because I'll be going slow all the way down due to having canti brakes that don't have much proper stopping power!

Well I've done my training, Boltby Bank 3 times a week over to Hawnby return, a bit short on the distance rides so I think I'm as ready as ever, lets just hope for a day like it's been here in Yorkshire, hot with blue sky :-)
