I've seen advice to oil or grease your seatpost but also that this isn't required with ali posts and frames as mine are, as seizing with rust shouldn't be a problem.

However, my seatposts usually get scratched to pieces thanks to constantly raising and lowering the thing.

Just wondering if it's worth greasing it to avoid this. Does anyone bother?

I grease it, well not grease but Super Coat from Rock N Roll. With this stuff you don't seem to need so much torque to stop it slipping.

As you are constantly raising and lowering it. it's unlikely to seize.

Never had one seize before, and I'd read the problem is just with steel stuff.

Anyway, this one actually came with instructions (!). Says use grease. Oh well.

    Done. Still scratched the thing.
