Anyone else here going to miss Gil Scott Heron?
The age of agitation has long been waning, anger has turned into a sub-species of lobbying - but this bloke did it in proper style with dirty bass lines and a poet's tongue.
Mid 1980s were my great memories of him when he toured a lot, esp. belting out The Bottle from the big stage on a Glastonbury midnight.

Very sad news. Saw him play on the South Bank for the GLC farewell bash. Fantastic, had one of the best bass players I've ever heard. He definately paved the way for many artists today. A true pioneer.

Sad news. I saw him on my 21st birthday at Jazz Cafe. Brilliant show, great music.

I'll be blasting some of his tunes to salute his memory tonight.
