well ive done it , after lots of peer pressure ,abuse ,bullying spitting etc ive ditched the flat bars on my scott s50 and put some road bars on with shimano sora shifters.
Went out today and did 27 miles up a few big hills and have to say i found my speed improved even on the hoods as i seem to be lower as i stretch forward more on the hoods than on flat bars.
Took a bit of getting used to at 1st especially going from flat bar shifters to road ones but i am enjoying having lots more hand positions to play with. Its not quite as good for commuting brake wise but as i go round a coastal path 12 miles to work i only have to brake for dog s grrr.
However the problem i have now is even though ive only had the bike a few months and i love it fairly light etc, whilst out a nice carbon thingy with campagnolo bits started giving me the eye and i think im smitten ............
