Just entered the Gravity Enduro up at Kielder in a couple of weeks, which uses part of the Deadwater trail. Never ridden there so tell me what the trail is like?? Hardpack/mud/loose?? Take it that it's none too dry up there at the minute either?

Cheers in advance...

Not been there - yet. I've been looking for some info thought, as I'll be heading up with the family this summer, so check out IMB Issue 11 which has a feature on the deadwater at Kielder... and as it's an online magazine there's some video of the trail.

My boys won't be up for anything this challenging, but I'm hoping for a couple of fun rides.

The deadwater trail is a climb for the first half followed by a descent back to the car park. I havn't done the top section as I was advised that Its a climb up to the transmitter to descend on something like a stony fire road so not worth the effort. On the lower half there are a few rocky bits with small rock drop offs and it's not an overly long trail. Surface - on the way up there are some muddy bits and plenty of wet rocks but nothing bad and on the way down the surface is quite sandy and stony but well compacted. The lonesome pine is less technical and more milage with quite an altitude gain to the boardwalk at the top. Similar sandy stony surface.

Have a look on youtube it should give you a faily good idea.
