Tour De France Sale?

I keep hearing mention of massive sales during the Tour De France. As I've never been in the market in previous years, is it worth waiting for; what sort of discounts are we talking about? Also, it just bikes or clothing? Also #2, is it LBS's or online, too.

Thanks.

All bike sales generally take place at the end of the summer season, end of August as distributors look to clear stocks for the next model year - nothing to do with the Tour de France.
Clothing tends to get discounted at the end of winter and summer
Parts, accessories etc. tend to get cleared at the end of the year.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

If I remember rightly, Canyon had some great deals on during last years Tour. You'll need to subscribe to their newsletter to hear about the deals.

If I remember rightly last year, Halfords increased the price of Boarmans by £200 and then offered a £200 reduction.

The only big sale was Canyon last year during the TDF. They gave a discount based o the teams performance.

Luckily Jurgen Van Den Broeck was flying so they ended discounting by 50%.

But this year they may not be wanting to shift a load of old stock... I wouldn't hold your breath guys.

On the other they may do, in which case happy clicking.

Yes and that was appalling. Was probably a ploy tied in with their TdF advertising.

They have just announced 10% off some of the Boardman range, including the 2011 Team Carbon.

Planet X also did a big Tour-themed sale a couple of years ago, but there's no guarantee that they'll repeat it unless they happen to need to shift stock again. As EKIMIKE says, if you find you need to clear stock in July - bingo, it's a "Tour de France sale"!

I think a lot has to do with the TDF more people buy a magazine that week/month and advertisers see it as a good time to introduce a little discount.
