I could do with sorting myself out with some waterproof shorts. It's not that I'm some sort of jessie ( .........allright a bit of a jessie). I do my fair share of riding on dartmoor and even though summers upon us someone seemed to neglect to tell dartmoor and it's bloody exposed up there.
I'm looking for some shorts that ........
Fit over (around) 661 kyle strait knee pads
have a few pockets
wont break the bank
work on there own with just a liner short
have ass warmers (A man can still dream)

I did buy a pair of endura waterproof trousers for about £40 in the winter but I woulod just boil in them now but when its drizzily / rainy on long days in the saddle it would just be nice to retain a dry ass / lower back!

oh and I know its probably a bit of long shot but I dont mind paying for quality...
Does anybody make a waterproof mountain bike short from a 3 layer fabric that would fit in with my other criteria? I hate the feeling of a membrane material against my skin

LOL. But it gets all pruney!

I have some Sombrio Lowline shorts. They are Cordura with a DWR coating. They aren't 100% waterproof but they are rugged and will keep you dry during a shower. The material is a bit noisy, though. It's not got a soft-touch if you know what I mean.

I've a pair of Endura Humvees that I wear rain/hail/shine...and snow and they've always kept me dry. They have an inner liner to keep your legs warm from a draft on the colder days, but without my legs have never gotten wet.

I use some Altura Semi-Dry 3/4's - they're great BUT won't go over my 661 Kyle Strait knee pads.

I gather the Endura Singletrack 3/4's are made to fit over pads, and they have a DWR water repellant finish so should keep the worst off. Wish I'd gone for some... :(

The Endura event 3/4 are excellent (I can't remember the model name). Liners will clip in. Thye're not cheap but special offers of up to 50% off do come up from time to time. I bought mine second hand but almost new.

I had some Altura Attack waterproof shorts and sent em back after 4 rides. The fly zip ripped. Dunno if this was just a defect but I didn't replace em. Got body armour and a wet bum instead!
