Hi folks,

I am in the market for my very first pair of road shoes, i have stupidly large size 13 feet. I know shimano, specialised and a few others do the sizes but is it true that you need to buy a size up from what you normally are?

Does anyone else have giant feet and can help here?

    depends on make/model, width etc.

the best way is to try some on and see what fits best

I took a punt on some heavily reduced Shimano R85s (Still on sale here but not in big sizes any more) size 47s, equivalent to a UK 12 and I take a 11.5 or 12 usually depending on brand for normal shoes. They fit great! YMMV. Knowing what I know now, I'd definitely go to your LBS and try some on first.

i have the shimano R083s, the old version of zachariahs, and they fit fine in my usual size
  • I am looking to get my first pair too. Is it lame to try some on at the LBS and then find a deal online? So far all the gear I have gotten has come from the LBS and I just wonder if I am overpaying for everything rather than shopping the best deal.

I just got some Shimano's. Ordered them in my normal shoe size (43) and they fit perfectly.

    Fixed that for you 8)

It's just a hill. Get over it.
  • I have just ordered a pair of shoes and wanted to know what any of you thought:

I got them on clearance with a used pair of pedals, new cleats, and walked out the door under $180. Was that a good deal? Did I get a good pair of shoes?

You really have way too much time on your hands. Lurking on a beginners board offering nothing but sarky comments and moronic advice.

If you were in anyway witty or humourous I'd understand. You are funny though. Hilarious that someone's life is that empty that they have to do what you do. You are so pathetic it's funny.

Back to the OP - I have heard that Diadora do large sizes which can be picked up off Sports Direct or Ebay.
