Hiya, I'm going to buy this bike... http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/13778/DiamondBack_Assault_Bike_2008 but I want to know if it is possible to remove one of the chain rings and just have one chain ring up front and I recon I will need a chain guide?
also could you estimate the costs, whether I will need to buy a new chainset?
Thanks

Depends if the granny is bolted or riveted, but what difference does it make? Just don't use it, no need for a new chainset.
Chainguide look at Superstar, £20 odd.

Thank you both for your help and if i take off one of the chainrings then there will be no need for extra cables and gear changers and I am sure ratios will be fine with out one... right???

Who knows what ratios you need. Why not get it first and see.

Maybe not. Gears are there for a reason.
