Hi There,

Im buying a new road bike, and ofc it doesnt come with pedals. I asked the chap at Evans what pedals i should buy and he said that most people just stick with the same model as the rest f the drivetrain is, e.g 105s crank/shifters etc so a 105 pedal.

Is this true?

I have size 13 feet, im unduly tall.

Do i need a wider pedal or a smaller pedal? I have no clue or should i just go for the Evans advice?

I assume that you will be buying 'clipless' pedals?

If so, then the cleat on the bottom of your cyclign shoe will clip into the pedals and that will be the only connection between your foot and the pedal. In that respect foot size is irrelevant as the same cleat will fit your size 13 shoes and my size 7.5 shoes.

    answer to your other point....

there's no need to match your groupset. Some people may do this just to keep one spec across the bike, but its irrelevant really. For the price of Shimano 105's you could buy 2 sets of something else.

I've just read a review on Raleigh's RSP Keo compatable pedals, £34.99 with fully sealed bearings - i bet you'll pick them up cheaper online as well? I'd go for something like that, especially if you're only just getting into it....

Another person with normal sized feet here (12-13), and as the others have said, it's not a factor when choosing clipless pedals.

    thanks for the advice,

Prolbably going for the keo classics. Seems to be highly rated and fairly priced.

+1 for the Classic Keos - identical to the standard Keo except for colour. I wear Shimano R85's euro size 47 and the cleat area is no problem.

EDIT to the above - mine are the Keo Plus 'limited' edition, which are identical to the Classic model but only available in grey. Very happy with them after nearly a year's fairly heavy use. The cleats suffer cosmetic damage very quickly but despite all the scuffs and scratches, they have never let me down so far.
