hi
I'd like to take advantage of my workplace cycle to work scheme (I'm not sure of the specifics of the plan as I'm on holiday now so will need to check up on it when I get back)
I don't know exactly how it all works, but reading around it certainly seems worth taking advantage of.
So my budget is about £600 for everything (bike, helmet, lock, accessories) I think. Does this seem like a decent budget? Is it worth spending a bit more on the cycle to work scheme as the savings are worthwhile?
My route is about 5-6 miles each way (clapham north to soho) so not too arduous.
I'd be mainly on Tarmac I guess but want the option of going through a park/towpath on weekends etc so I thought a hybrid would be right for me. I prefer flat bar rather than drop handles and makes that I like the look of are trek, fuji and Scott.
Hopefully some of you can give me some buying advice! Thanks in advance.

so just found my work recently scrapped the scheme without telling anyone, so I guess my budget has just been slashed. Not impressed.
What is the census on buying second hand from eBay/Gumtree?0 -
Yes, buying 2nd hand may be the way to go then. Otherwise try to negotiate a cash payment deal with the bike shopDo not write below this line. Office use only.0
