Hey just need a bit of help, im replacing the suntour forks on my GT AVALANCHE. The new forks are this years (2011) fox f100's. At the bottom of the stem on the new forks it goes a little wider and so the original crown racer does not fit. Do i need a wider one and if so what size? Hope this makes sense and im not being stooooopid.

any help much apreciated.

the crown race is headset specific yes it is an interference fit.
See parktools for how to fit it.

So im going to replace the head set. which one should I use? Do I go for an entry level one? Or go a bit more up budget and get something like a HOPE head set. Bearing in mind im skint as the F100's empied my wallet.

Look on Ebay for Orbit (XLII is good) or Cane Creek S3 with cartridge bearings. Probably around £20 and great quality and value.
