This seems to have crept up on us this year.

Can't wait to get into Peterborough next week to see it. First round in Durham tonight.

Not sure if there is any tv coverage on ITV4 this year.

Massively excited about watching this later. The course is brutal, its really wind, and the roads are likely to be damp later. Glad I'm not riding but it should be great racing!

It's not coming to Chester this year, maybe 'cos they couldn't handle the cobbles ;)

Last year was not too bad.. Only one bad crash on the final corner on the final lap. The year before in Chester was Horrible. It just started chucking it down real heavy as the riders rolled off.. After a few laps I am sure everyone had been down at east once. It was carnage

I see there's a round in Aberystwyth. Which sadist picked that venue? It takes forever to get to, regardless of where you start from.

i Attended Durham today and it was first class, brilliant course. Close, tight, hilly, cobbles, high speed cobble decents. Shows i have a million miles to go! Or that ill never be that good.
    Watch it tomorrow on ITV4.

    Evidently i mostly have a FCN of 1. I'm now a lady!
  • Brilliant night last night. It was well supported barely an empty space at a barrier the length of the course but not too crowded so you could wander round the course and eventually get another spot on a barrier.

The skill on dislplay to get round this corner with very little drama and the pace they carried onto the cobbles up South Street was awesome.

BTW can someone confirm if Malcolm Elliot has or hasn't retired?

I thought he had, but he's still in the rider list with Motorpoint Marshall, although I didn't see him last night.

My 7 year old daughter blew me out last night, she was meant to be coming as well but she asked would Malcolm Elliot be there & I said he wouldn't, he'd retired. Her lip quivered & said '...but he's a legend'.

I believe that he is still doing some racing but combining that with a more DS type role within the team too.....he's definitely raced this year though........although I've not seen his name down in any of the big races.

I think Malcolm Elliot is rider/manager for this year, what a legend, i hope he gets to race at 50.

I raced in the business race last year in woking, it was awesome fun. I love seeing so many people out to support it. Should be great this year, especially now there is a women's race too. I was wondering how long it would take them to get one in. My girlfriend's pleased.

Tarquin foxglove, that corner's mental, last year i remember a few riders took a dive there!

A couple of riders had scrapes there in the warm up but for the first 20 odd minutes (before I wandered off round the course) bar a couple of punctures coming down the hill & chains coming off when they hit the cobbles it was immaculate. A Rapha rider did lose a slide & came down heavy but got back on straight away.

Thanks for the information. I thought he'd gone into management but excellent to see it wasn't a typo in the rider list & he's still racing.

Might have to try & get to another event so my daughter can get her Malcolm fix for another year.

I'll be out from 6AM coning off the Aberystwyth course then racing the 4th Cat race before marshalling the main event later. Can't wait. It should prove to be awesome. Weather could be interesting though. Heavy rain showers and 20-40MPH winds forecast!

Club 10 tonight and a lot of the teams will be in town already so expecting some interesting competition as a few have said they'll come down and race toinght!

Rather high quality coverage from ITV4. Well done.
  • Missed most of the coverage on ITV4 today :( Think my dad has it recorded though so i get to see the rest of the action at some point.

I was around the course taking photos last night and really enjoyed the event. Great course! I saw Malcolm Elliot riding around before the event wearing a big fleece jacket over his racing kit and thought it a bit odd. Knowing he wasn't feeling 100% it make sense now.

Definitely big respect to Zak Dempster on taking the win. Especially having been forced to walk up the main climb twice in the space of about 10 minutes (probably successive laps), after puncturing somewhere near the bottom of the course.

Anyway if anyone missed the ITV4 coverage I've just finished uploading my pics to Flickr (blatant plug, I know!). You can access them through http://www.mattmuir.co.uk
