Nice report nickwill, you seem to have hit the nail on the head.
Think it was a lot tougher than folks thought it would be. It deserves to be run again and listed along the harder sportives of the year. Pics at http://www.sportsunday.co.uk0 -

Re the difficulty of the event, I think it's right up there.
Honister into a headwind after what had gone before, elicited similar feelings of dread and maximum heart rates as Hardknott on the Fred Whitton.
Using Memorymap figures, the Keswick Sportive has 151ft ascent per mile, the Fred Whitton 128ft per mile, the Lakeland Loop 122ft per mile and Le Terrier HC 117ft per mile.0 -
