Fast flowing sections and technical sections. I was down on Sunday and it was wet and windy and even hailstones. Most of the track is pretty grippy even when wet but there are a couple of bits that were slippy and sketchy. I use a hardtail but a lot of folk like a full sus bike for the trails,AUT PAX AUT BELLUM

Bit of everything really. The climb gets technical towards the top, particularly the Lactic Ladder near the top of the black section. Black downhill is a technical descent, links in th the red which is fast and flowing, lots of berms etc. I use a 160mm full sus enduro bike, but a 140 mm full susser is the best option I think. Use a Stumpy HT sometimes, fantastic on the red, but full sus is the way to go on the black for sure.
Fantastic trail though, the best I've been on.0 -
Cheers guys, for sure taking the bouncer then , going up in August and really looking forward to it0

I use it pretty much weekly. And love it!
The track in places needs maintanance but, for the most I think it makes it more interesting.
There is a pay machine in the car park(£5) and it has been broken for 6 months+ so currently free to use the trails!
There isnt really any bike shops nearby so make sure you have spares, especially tubes as pinch flats appear to be common(I use DH tubes, so no probs) if you like getting some air.2011 Orange 224 evo race

2weeks to go, was at Laggan a couple of weeks ago so needs to elevate that to claim the technical trail tile...0

Lindsey & co stock quite a few basic spares, amongst everything else including kitchen sinks (and wigs....). They are located on the main street.
The parking machine is fixed now and allows donations as well as the £5 per car.0 -

Just for referance, when are Lindsay & co open? They are never open when im there!
The donations idea on the car park machine has been an excellent idea, so i can just use whatever change i have!2011 Orange 224 evo race

Been on Saturday, weather was good trails were fine, very technical climb at the top of the black!
enjoyed the descent, however the top was too loose for me, but rode it all.
Only did one run and stopped at learnie on the way down which was good too0 -
Where di you find it loose?
What did you think of Learnie?2011 Orange 224 evo race

the rollercoaster like bit there was a lot of loose rocks and rubble on the trail, just didn't have the confidence to hammer the turns when there is a danger of the front washing out (don't mind a bit of movement at the back)
Learnie was OK, fun park was good (nice big drops) but the lack of signposting on the black proved a big problem, there are several places where the trail splits and there is absolutely no indication of where to go, went up a down bit and vice versa - however rode it all (bar the steep rock garden you see on all the photos, was just too much a woose for that  ) with no real problems
Finished on the green fun park which was actually great fun as you can get great air off the small jumps but was getting knackered by then
I see there is a guide to Scottish trials on the front page, seems to be a copy of the book MBUK gave away a couple of months ago (where I found out about golspie) and thought it might be interesting to get riders views of favourite routes and who has ridden where etc, see new post0 -
Yeah sometimes the rocks can be a pain near the top and especially on the rollercoaster. I find it entertaining, others find it dangerous. I have been known to clear the odd one or two out of the way. I know what your saying about the front washing out , I seem to be loosing a lot of speed recently due to that on the valhalla section especially, as well as the lower red decent before the large tabletops at the bottom.
Thank you!!!! I thought I was being blind not seeing the sign posting on the black at learnie!!!!! If i can find our local forest ranger I'll ask him who deals with it to get it sorted, it does my head in!
The rock garden decent I love in the dry. I tryed it in the wet a few weeks ago. I now need a 44t outer chain ring, and a elastoplast........2011 Orange 224 evo race
