How many miles per week do you do? Interested to benchmark. Please state your level of competition, if any.

I try to do 100miles per week, mix of commuting, night rides and w/end rides. I roll around the top 10-15 of MTB masters XC.

    No idea, don't care. In time between 6 and 12 hours.
    In a previous thread when we decided
    Beginner = training wheels
    Expert = paid to ride.
    Intermediate = everyone else.

    I came in as intermediate.

    Don't really count! Took the speedo off, and don't look up where I have been. Or rarely where I am going!

    Come say hi in the Crudcatcher and join our monthly distance challenge :D

    We've got a mix in there, going from 900miles (ish) right the way down to zero.

    Me, I'm about 250-300 per month, don't compete though.

    Couple of miles on hilly singletrack can be much harder than 10 miles of easy fire road.

    Good for you.
    However, do the XC masters not mind you rolling them around?

    Maybe rolling around is a euphemism?

    My goal right now is to just lose weight, and have fun. I have no interest in competing at this time. I do about 100km roughly per week, and for me that is amazing. I'm a master of my own class, which is what is important to me!

    Steve James?

    Not the former master Steve James who is now in Elite presuambly, nor the Junior, also in Elite, so are there really 3 'Steve James' racing XC in the south!?

    I think there is also a Stephen James. Maybe we should have our own race? Never mind this Masters stuff.

    Interested to see some resent the very question of mileage. Personally I see it as the easiest way to measure the effort I'm putting in.

    I thought I would get bored plotting mileage, but its often the very motivation gets me out on the bike again. "...You wimp, you've only done 50m this week...." etc.

    Well..... no.

    I guess I have been known to fall off the bike and roll around the floor with cramp in both legs mid-race. Brass Monkeys 2010. And again in 2011.

    Don't see any resentment, think you are being a bit touchy.

    The Stephen James is the one who was a master, now an elite.

    As for mileage as a measure of your effort I'd say hours is far far better. Otherwise a week spent spinning easy gears on the road ends up looking like a better week than one spent thrashing around on the MTB!

    I don't really count. At a guess maybe 150-225 per month.

    on the MTB it varies, as I need to drive to ride and work long hours. so can have fair gaps before I can ride the MTB.

    where as I'm on the commute bike almost every day.

    don't know, about 75 miles commuting on the road, no idea on off road on the weekend, generally I get out once a weekend for about 3 hours, if I can twice

    Just started out MTB...

    Week before last did 36 miles
    Last week 38 miles
    Weekend just gone managed 33 miles over the 2 days

    Most of the above singletrack/fireroad/fields with a couple of miles of each rideout to get to the woods/parks/fields.

    My target is to get to 50 per week, then start increasing gradually.

    It's also a juggling act though with work and 2 young kids to get good long time-slots to get out and about. Loving every mile though :D

    Just had a look on Endomondo, and I seem to do between 50 and 100 miles most weeks. I'm quite chuffed with that, since I've just stopped the ciggies (again) recently.
