Riding across the lakes with just your bike and a bag...
I've read articles in WMB and MBR from time to time where the writers have literally packed some small supplies, a tighly packed one man tent or bivvy bag and ridden into the night, camped out then ridden back in the morning.
It sounds like a laugh and I'm thinking of organising something this summer in the lakes - hopefully around the Ambleside area as we know it well already and possibly spanning a couple of nights out on the road, maybe one in a proper campsite (for the showers etc) and then ending up back where we started.
Does anyone have any advice on where to start planning a route like this, what extras we should take with us that we might not have considered and if anyone has any good/bad experiences of this?
EDIT - Apologies this was meant for MTB General, mods?
