Hi.Want to change from single crank to a double,the BB is 126mm for the single ,what length for a double.Am also changing from 27 1 1/4 wheel to 700,from 5 speed free wheel to a 7 will this work.John

    126 strikes me as long for a single ring. What you need for the double will depend on the crank that you are using. If you are adding another ring to your existing crank you should be able to see if the ring will fit. Are you keeping to cottered cranks? On my Cobra I had a Stronglight double cotterless crank with (I think) 118mm axle, 700c wheels and a 6 speed freewheel. I am not sure that you can fit a 14t sprocket too close to the fork end, it might have clashed on the seat stay but I can't say now, some b*****d ran into me on it and wrote it off a few years ago.
