I'm currently riding 38 miles (round trip) to and from work 2-3 times a week on a mountain bike with road tyres on it. I'm thinking of getting a road bike but have a tight budget, what do you think of the raleigh sprint as a 1st road bike.http://www.raleigh.co.uk/ProductType/ProductRange/Product/Default.aspx?pc=1&pt=14&pg=5963

I was most disappointed, I clicked on the link expecting 501 steel tubing, down tube shifters and a black and gold lairy colour scheme!
For £399 it's not bad but I'd be more incliined to buy a better bike second hand.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

I've had a look on eBay for you. Here's a link to their current road bikes listed between £300 - £400. Most of them are miles better than the Raleigh mentioned:

Always decent bikes on eBay. Just make sure you save £100 from your budget for a service and tyres.0
