Anyone else playing it?
I'm very impressed, even though I've seen a few little imperfections. But it's so atmospheric and paced just right. And the soundtrack is fantastic.
Got it on the 360 and was slightly shocked seeing 3 disks in the case!

Not playing it but I must admit its on my to get list. What's it play like? Is it like GTA, or maybe the Saboteur?0

the facial expressions on the ad seem amazing. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns

Once I'm through with Portal 2 and finally gotten round to getting GT5, it's definitely next on the list.
Looks a lot like the Mafia games from years ago, which I thoroughly enjoyed. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

It feels a bit like GTA. A bit like Heavy Rain. Even a bit Red Dead Redemption at times.
The driving bits are pure GTA, but you can skip them, which is nice.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Iain, having seen the LA Noire adverts and reports of it, it seems completely up my street and I want to play it, and maybe a few other games.
But I haven't really done gaming since the PS2 (I used to do quite a lot). I feel like making a comeback.
So, on purely gaming criteria, PS3 or XBox? I trust your opinion. Your word will be law.Twitter: @RichN950 -
I know I'm not Iain, but for me it's PS3 every time, it's more reliable, and so much more powerful. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

Xbox 360 all the way
Yes you have to pay for internet play but its about the same as the price of a game and if your a sky customer you have access to loads of movies on demand for free. Also I wouldn't trust PS3 online anymore after their latest scandalsLappiere X-Control 210

Personally I'm rather disappointed. Poor free roam/sandbox element (I've unlocked the free roam case(s) and no multiplayer. I understood that the single-player element was always going to be at the core of this game and it seems fairly solid in that area but I was very surprised - particularly after GTA and the excellent RDR multiplayer/co-op features - that there is none. To not include a multiplayer cops vs. robbers/gangs in a beautifully rendered '40s city with fabulous cars and Tommy guns is a bit of a sin.
Also I don't know if the PS3 version comes on a nice shiny Blu-Ray but it is back to disc-swapping on the 360; something I don't remember doing since Secret of Monkey Island came on about six 3.5" floppys.0 -

There really isn't much between them. Until recently, 360 versions of titles were consistently better than the PS3 version. But the gap has narrowed.
I'd say if LA Noire appeals to you, a PS3 might be a good bet as you can get Heavy Rain for it. And you get the side benefits of Blu Ray player and all that.
If you did online, I'd say 360 without question. And if you use services like last.fm or Sky Player, a 360 is a good option. And they'll have Skype interface in the future via Kinect.
You won't go wrong with either one though.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

i agree with this - everyone i know who has said "i don't care about online" has just completely been hooked when they try it! - it is a new level of gaming!
As for the PS3 vs 360 - i have a PS3 - it is also out home blu-ray player and DVD player (makes a great upscaler for DVD!) I've not had a 360 but i believe that the online experience is slicker. I know that with, for example, call of duty MW2 you can be playing online in seconds but the PS3 often takes a while to find a game to join.
I think, technically speaking, the PS3 is quite a bit more powerful so i don't think we have seen the best from the PS3 yet - whereas surely the 360 is getting near end-of-life?0 -

How much is the player involved?
I'm an enormous rockstar fan, but from what I've read I can't quite get my head around how they work it so that it's not just monkey-Island-series-sword-fighting style gameplay.0 -
Just bought it.
Played a little - so far, no more than an hour.
Looks like I'll have to play it in binges.
The interviews are a little monkey island insult sword fighting but there's enough intuition needed for it to be ok.
From what I've played you do feel a bit removed from what's occuring however.0 -

Perhaps because it's a game, on a screen?

I should update here.
I bought an XBox and played LA Noire pretty much constantly over the three day weekend (breaking only to eat, watch a little cycling and go to the pub).
I very much enjoyed it. Largely what I hoped for. Good involving story
My complaints though:
1. Cole Phelps is a bit of a knob really (not a spoiler - I felt this fairly early on).
2. The standard of driving in 1940s LA leaves a lot to be desired.
3. I'm lousy at interrogation.
4. I wasn't too keen about the thing in the final act (you'll know what I mean - no spoilers from me)Twitter: @RichN950
