Going to visit the parents in Camberley (Surrey) in a couple of weeks so I'm taking the bike to ride the tracks in the local woods where I rode as a kid. Since I'll be driving all the way from Aberdeenshire to do this, I really want to make the most of it. Any suggestions for a good day's riding? Thanks in advance.

Best bet is to head north to Swinley forest

Thanks anjs. That'll be new, unridden territory for me. I can link this in with other areas I have in mind too. 8)

Other suggestions are still welcome from anyone else too.

Will you have a car? If yes then head south to Surrey Hills. It will be worth the drive. Swinley is by far the best riding in Camberley area otherwise. You might also consider Tunnel Hill, Yately heath and Warren Heath in Eversley.

Take a look in the Swinley and London Calling (mainly SH) threads in Rides.
Normally people out most weekends, and sometimes during the week.
Random bunch, varied ages, skill levels, ride for fun and always nice to meet new people.

Thanks guys. Plenty to ride, then. Tunnel Hill was on the list already but I'll also have a look at the other suggestions, especially the Surrey Hills as it seems to pop up in MTB mags quite often. Can't wait to go; it'll be great to head out near to the old stomping grounds.

You should try also the woods around Deepcut - some of the trails in there are fantastic imho. Enjoy!

It was there that prompted me to take my bike down south to start with. Last time I was down I took the dog for a walk over there and thought "Must bring the bike next time!"

Rode Swinley today. Despite the cr&p weather it was great. Big enjoyment and totally different to the stuff I'm used to riding in Scotland. Thanks to all who recommended it. Maybe I should move back to Camberley
