Shimano Hollowetech II BB compatability

Probably a stupid question but I'm desperate - does anyone know if the hollowtech II bb's are interchangeable - specifically would a Shimano XT hollowtech II bb work with a Shimano 105 (road) chainset/bb shell?

    not really. The MTB cups are slightly narrower and they are designed to run with 3 spacers, whereas the road BBs run no spacers, so the central sleeves are different.

    If you ran MTB cups with a road sleeve you'd be close.
