BB30 problems....bearing/creaking problems? (with vid)

I've noticed today that the preload nut (part number 8) isn't tight, and has about 1.5mm space between the bearing shield (part number 5) and the crank arm...
Is there a spacer missing or something?
The extracting bolt (part 9) can't be done any tighter...

Sorted! didn't see the little grub screw!
tiny little fecker, had to try 3 different allen key sets before I had one that fits!0 -
it gave the size in the instructions."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

How good is the bearing sealing on the BB30?
Mine is now clicking like a mutha flipper  I'm guessing its the Welsh grit but 4 rides?!
Checked pedals and other potentials, but they seem fine.
Seems to happen with any weight on the pedals  Not good when you have ocd. stopped about 8 times to check I haddn't cracked the BB!0 -
is this all i'll need (along with my big allen key) to get the cranks off?

Not remover the bearings, just want to give it all a good clean out.0 -
Good question regarding the bearing sealing and if I'm honest, I don't think it's that good. The bearings don't seem to last very long, but they are cheap(ish) to replace.
Yeah, that's the tool you need.0 -

Here we go.... creaking like a mo fo.

Cleaned and refitted afterwards which seems to have fixed it for now.... are the bearing seals really that crap?!
Quick search on the net finds loads the same0 -
Quite a scary sound when you first hear it as it echo's through a carbon fram very well (in my case).0
-
Right another question... (couldn't find the latest thread... stupid search).
For BB30 bearing removal, all I need is the following?
And a hammer.
And instalation, this and a heasdset press? (already have a headset press)
Not bad for a tenner... as I've already got a press I might as well.
Anyone know where I can get some decent bearings from?0 -
any bearing shop."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

IMHO, yes !
The best one I have come across as recommended by dpaulett the Enduroforkseals version.0 -
Today question...
How do I get the drive side out?
I've been twatting the spindle with a rubber mallet for about 30 mind and the fecker hasn't even shifted!
Following this: http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-hel ... nd-removal
I don't want to ht it any harder! Could it have seized?0 -
They shouldn't come out without too much bother to be honest. All the ones I've replaced have been fine. I expect you have already checked, but make sure there is nothing stopping it from coming out and you are striking the bearings and not any ridges in the frame.0

Not sure what you mean, but I always find pouring boiling on water on aluminium parts to releaves them.0

Him them harder ben it will come out don't be scared of itRockHopper Expert ---- (the bike not me)0

not had an issue removing spindles from bb30 boardmans, using a halfords deadblow. http://www.comparethestores.com/product/35/403623121/Halfords-Dead-Blow-Hammer.html
make sure the bearings are properly seated, some first batch 2011s had issues with that.0 -
Knock the shifter into the small ring then unhook the chain otherwise this may prevent the cranks from being knocked out.0
-
What cranks are you using? Most use a self extracting system now so there shouldn't be a problem.0
