Hi. I am based in Manchester and ride the original steel framed marin Eldridge grade. On wednesday I hit a pothole hard at the back, and the chainstay snapped at the junction with the drive side dropout. two questions for my fellow forumites:
A - Is it safe to get this welded due to the position of the break.
B - ever hopefull, but does anyone know a good welder/frame builder in Manchester/north cheshire that might fancey the work.
Thanks for any forthcoming help.
If I can feel the pain in my arse, I mustn't be hurting my legs enough.

A yes if done well. But i would be having the whole frame checked.

Also look at the cost of a replacement frame just in-case.

    B sorry.

You could try Argos in Bristol, not the popular catalogue shop but a long established frame builders who do repairs. You could send your frame in by courier? As above though, check the price of a new frame because Argos aint cheap!
