His career, which began with such stunning brilliance, just stagnates.

Why?

I guess he's not had such a good team/lead out train since he left T-Mobile/Highroad. He also came through at the same time as Cav and Farrar so whilst he may be good, he's maybe not good enough to beat them so seems to have faded into the background.

Sprinters do seem to have good periods and bad periods, confidence seem quite important. Ciolek is only 24 so he has time to come good again.

He's only lead-out for Chicchi in the Giro, although if he hadn't have been slightly baulked towards the finish yesterday, he might have got third instead of fifth.

Was Ciolek the lead-out on the stage the other day when Cav won, and the quickstep rider bombed it to the front and looked around to see where his sprinter was?

I remember hearing a lot of central Europeans as being on a par with Cav in terms of his sprinting, but being able to climb too. Sadly he isn't showing much of anything, but maybe he is just in the wrong team and unhappy? More of a classics rider for the coming years possibly?

Hopefully- I always liked Ciolek, and it's just been disappointing to see him slip down the sprinter food chain.

    Although he is still young.
