Lacking motivation post epic ride

4 weeks ago I finished my solo & unsupported ride across the USA, gave myself two weeks off the bike to rest and recover but really struggling to get motivated to do training of any type, anyone else experienced something similar? how do i get over it?

+1. Happens to me every year: so I plan another trip and start training towards it. Doesn't take long before I'm happy cycling for the sake of it again.

Awesome. No wonder you're a bit flat. After my epic (although insignificant in comparison) race i took me months to get my mojo back. I would just forget about the bike and do something else you enjoy. I went for eating and drinking (a lot !). Certainly made the hills harder on my return to training. Another thing I heard useful but might be a plie of crap is to make a scrapbook or diary of your trip. It's a bit psychobable post traumatic stress stuff but apparently it helps

I'll be doing La Marmotte in July and since the new year I haven't been on a mountain bike as I'm scared I'll injure myself and derail my training. I'm already looking forward to getting back into mountian biking after the Marmotte.

How about getting out and enjoying just riding your bike for a bit without training?
