To expand a bit - A51 towards Whittington and park on side of road at car park. Cross road and follow trail into woods and up to the left. All sorts of single track round there including a few good downhills and a bombhole or two. Not a huge area, but enough for an evening blast, plenty there I did not explore. Watch out for the army being on training though as it can be closed off!

Also you are not too far from Cannock Chase and the trails there.

Second vote for Hopwas woods... I am only a 2 minute ride away.

My usual way in is down through the village, head down school lane (opposite the tame otter pub), then down the canal tow path, head over the bridge and then you can either head left to take you up a nice climbimg singletrack.. or right for a swoopy wider track.. both link up to each other.

The left route gets you to the foot of a manmade track.. with berms and jumps (I did see a guy on a bright orange Commencal with a spade heading into the woods once, assume it is his handywork, thanks mate).

Not tried Cannock for years and years.. last time I went it wasn't a trail centre, must be 15 years at least..
