Hi i have a set of Avid Elixir CR Mag brakes, unfortunately they squeel like mad and i have tried cleaning with alcohol, lightly sanding new pads etc... But they still squeel. I always ensure the mounting hardware is tight and the contact area is level. I have heard that avid GC3 rotors are prone to squeel or could it be my frame!!! I have a 2010 Trek Scratch 9. So if anyone has any info to shed on this i would be most grateful. Also while we are on the braking subject is it possible to use Shimano rotors with the above brake??
Many thanks in advance...

My Elixir 5 on the rear squeels a little bit, but I think that most/all Avid brakes make a bit of noise.
As for the Shimano rotors, I don't see why not, I use Avid rotors and SLX brakes. You might need to swap the mounts, looks like it comes with 185mm rotors, not 180mm rotor that Shimano and most other brake companies use.

Hope that's of some help :)

Surely as long as the rotor is flat and has the same 6 bolt fitting any rotor will do.
