Finally dragged my sorry ass into the 21st century and got myself a smart phone (A Samsung Galaxy as you insisted on knowing!) and I would appreciate knowing what the best apps for mapping, training and cycling in general are.

Thanks in advance peeps.

Check out the thread 'shiny phone' on MTB general board of this forum.
  • I've been using Endomondo, great app, map out a route online and download to phone, share with and compete with friends, you can set it to track a ride from start to finish, and share the routes on facebook if you wish, the pro version allows you to set a playlist to work out to, logs top speed (accuracy limited by GPS), average speed, gives a mile by mile time and compares this to a previous time on the route, approximate calories burned, and you can hook up heart meters (via bluetooth) there's probably other things I've yet to discover, the free version is defiantly worth a download to try out

^ What wtw says for Endomondo.

Mapping try ViewRanger with open cycle maps. I use MMtracker but you need the maps for this from Memory Map.

    I used to use use my tracks but . . . . then I discovered . . . . .

ENDOMONDO (yes I know it's already been said)

It is brilliant. The calender gets you motivated, seeing what your friends are doing gets you motivated and the average speeds seem pretty accurate. You do pick up some strange top speeds though.

Tip: Set your privacy settings so that only friends can see you routes otherwise your advertising to anyone who wants to look where you live.
