Pretty good, My surname is Derry, my family hail from Walsall, I work with two guys called Derry both from Pelsall (they are brothers but I'm not related) and Walsall seems to have the highest density of Derry's in the land

I'm from Sunderland originally and have no family anywhere near Wales, ever.

Everybody thinks I'm one of these foreigner types. Call me Saffa bastard at work.

I was born in UK, brought up in SA and lived in NZ. Have passports for all three.

But I am a Makem, no matter how hard I try and hide it.

Surname Prior. Originally meaning a head or superior monk. Back in medievil times Kings and Queens used to look to the Prior for guidance before making important decisions. So basically we used to run the feckin country.

We havent moved very far, the highest concentration of my forebears is in the south of the UK, Reading and Oxford mainly.

My Dad is from Eton, his old folks used to work at in Windosr Castle and my Mum from the Eastend of London and her Dad used to have evening drinks with the Krays. God knows how they met.

I also have no relatives since the beginning of time anywere near Wales.

Well it wouldn't find my married name on the 1998 register meaning there are less than 100 on the electral register. I knew it was unusual but less than 100 :!:

My maiden name is a bit more common with over 25000 Lane's all well and truly English.

My last name is Warburton and it looks like we haven't moved too far in the last century infact only about 50 miles  My grandad (dads side) was origanally from Bury, Grandma (dads side) was Phillips from Cork, Grandad (mums side) was Williams from Wrexham and my grandma was Owens from Llandudno-ish way. In no way does this make me half Welsh
What if your dreams and fears existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven, you had to brave hell? What if everything you've ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?

Blackburn, where one of my ancestors was a Witch. Hasn't spread very much.
My names dying out, down from 84 per million in 1881 to 31 by 1998. I do know of one person with the same surname who changed theirs by deed poll cos they were sick of the p1ss taking.

Is that really an admission of hardcore racism here?

Most of the people in England should have descendants from Scotland and Wales - the Celts, basically.
See, the celts were too busy taking part in their favourite passtime of fighting, then the saxons arrived with all their amorous charms, and started bedding the native women, whilst the celts continued cutting each other up with swords, throwing rocks at each other, or shooting each other with arrows. So much so that they didn't notice the Saxons having their way.

I may be paraphrasing a little, but that's almost exactly(ish) what we were taught in history class. Probably, I wasn't paying much attention, i was too busy fighting.

Needless to say, my surname would be really difficult to find. Nobody can locate us as it's just never heard of anymore.
