Hello :D

After years of being a wimp I thought I might have a go at the Cwmcarn downhill trail this weekend - the red one that is!

So, how hard it is? It is really all rollable (I can jump, but my timing isn't always perfect when everything happens all close together  )? Is a good trail to have a go on?

And if anyone sees me at the top looking terrified - and slightly robocop-ish - please give me lots of space :?

Some steep stuff on it but it is meant to be rollable.

But if you want to get some DH practice in i suggest FOD perfect place 15minutes to push up you can do it faster on foot than the uplift. and it's a really good place to get skill dialed :)

    Thanks :D

Would love to try Cannock, but it's all about distance.... We can do Cwmcarn in a cheeky day (just about) whereas to go further afield it's then turning into a weekend away with lots of driving, staying over etc etc.

well FOD is 30 min up from Cwm, So figured it a bit closer than Afan for you which you do a bit on weekends yarp?

FOD is definately the best place to get stuck in to learnign some DH lot of little tracks in an easy walk.Ccannock DH i have no idea about but tempted to look when i'm in brum next but the red trail is a good solid locals trail but not worth traveling for. Just do it if you ever accidently in the brum area :P

Ah, ignore me, I read your first email as FTD (ie Cannock). I am obviously having a blonde / senior moment

I have no idea about FOD but will read up on it now!! :D

Nope, not me, it was a non-Wales weekend :D

It's very good to hear that there were so many girlies there though, it makes a change! Quite often i'm the only girl there :?

The red DH is definitely rollable, with maybe exception of the pavement drop. It certainly wasn't when I was there but that a little while back. I understand there have been some changes there now. I couldn't even do the chicken run at the time.

All the rest was fine for me. Like the design of it. Allows all kinds of abilities all down the same run, and you make of it what you want based on your skills.

The XC was okay. The climb is a killer though. The freeride bit was nice fun back when I did it.

Also bear in mind the uplift may need booking. If it's not too busy you can queue and hope to get in but those who've booked have priority.

Otherwise it's a climb back up the hill!

    Thanks guys :D

deadkenny - I love the xc climb (in a sick and twisted way  )! The plan is to do a couple of blasts of the xc trail, and then the DH. I hadn't thought about the uplift actually, but I don't mind riding up the road if needs be :?
