Hi,

A friend of mine is considering swapping his Rock Shox Tora 302 Coil 130mm for an SR Suntour Raidon Air fork. It is SF11 X1 and it has 140mm of travel with lockout and rebound.

Can you please tell me your opinion of the fork and whether it is worth exchanging for his Rock Shox Tora 302 Coil?

I would much rather have the Rockshox. The Tora is a pretty decent fork and will last a very long time if you look after it. For an actual upgrade how about Rockshox Sektor or Revelations?

I wouldnt be so sure. Those suntours get some good reviews. Also, the tora 302s only have the turnkey damper. However, I think that if you are going to splash out on new forks, rather than getting something that will be a little better, it would be wise to get something that will be a lot better such as a reba, revelation, fox 32 etc.

Rockshox are better built & will last longer. Probably a lot easier to get rockshox spares as well.

Bang on, another downside to the Raidon is that the brake has an annoying habit of forcing the non-driveside of the front wheel out of the dropout, it's a design flaw and there's no way of fixing it. It won't force the wheel all the way out as there are "lawyers lips" that stop it from doing so, but it is a pain as it makes the rotor rub against the caliper and fork leg
I had to beat them to death with their own shoes...
