Front Derailleur Issues

All of my gears were skipping on my Fury so me and my brother (two complete amateurs) took to fixing it.
All of the back gears are moving up and down with no skipping and smoother than ever.
However on the front derailleur second to third is not smooth at all. If I press the shifter in all the way and hold it there it will eventually change but if you just press it as normal its not moving the chain far enough to reach third.
All other gear changes on the front sprocket are smooth and in good time.
