Garmin 500 Caence sensor fault

The Cadence senor has stopped working after about 5 months. I can't get it to read on the head unit. I have changed the battery and rescanned but the headunit is not recognising it and not displaying cadence on the screen. When I reset the sensor the red light comes on but the green light does not show as the pedal sendor passes past the cadence senor on the frame
Anyone have any suggestions other than send it back for a replacement?

Did you put the battery in backwards for a few seconds? Not sure what this does exactly, but this always seems to be recommended.More problems but still living....0
