Folks

I'm trying to find a pic of a SLX chainset in 'double' guise (M665), but with the bashguard removed, as I want to see if it looks like a triple chainset simply with the outer ring removed. Anyone got a pic?

Or......

To put it another way - is it simply (albeit with 22/36 rings) a triple with the outer ring removed ?

I'm looking at going double, for around the 100 notes mark, and want something which is supposed to be double.

Cheers, Dave

Pretty sure they are exactly the same, just with different rings/bashguards. Like almost all cranks!

The double chainset also has steel eyelets for the pedals, i think the triple doesnt have this though i may be wrong...

I just want a double which doesn't look like i've removed the outer ring

Like this but without the £300+ price tag......

Unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be much decent (like SLX) out there around the £100 - £150 mark......

*Edit - wonder what RaceFace have to offer*

IMO most cranks look alright with the outer ring removed anyway, done it with M970s, M985s and S-Works jobbies, can't say I've ever thought it looked particualrly bad!

Maybe yeah. Tbh I'm prob thinking about it too hard.

It looks sh!te on my singlespeeded hack (Sugino mighty cranks), and my mate has a set of X0's as above, which look spot on, so I'm after something which is prob pointless to chase!

SLX look good tho, and a decent weight.

So - if removing the bashguard do I need different bolts, or some kind of spacer ?

I've got the SLX double and bash on my boardman and it looks great!
    The bashguard feels indestructable!
