318/302 Tora Upper Swap Question

My brothers Tora 318 solo airs have a small ding in the uppers and he wishes to replace the uppers. He wants to swap the uppers with the uppers from a set of 302s. From what I have read the motion control in the 318s is better than that of the 302s so I will be using the 318s motion control unit. Question I have is, is the damping rod in the right leg the same in both forks and just the motion control is different or is the rod different as well? Looks the same from the pdf I got off of srams site.
Both forks are 2008 models.
The 318s are the all travel version with a spacer to set them are 100mm, not dismantled the 302s but if they are not the all travel versions and are 100mm only will the uppers still swap ok.

The uppers will swap fine. The parts are slightly different, but do work - but there is the chance of the moco cartridge bottoming on the rebound head.
See MTBR.com workshop for full details.0 -
Might be blind but I couldn't seem to find the MTBR.com workshop even after a quick google. Any chance of a direct link?
Would changing the rebound head and shaft along with the moco from the 318 uppers into the 302 uppers stop the chance of it possible bottoming out or is it the way it actual mounts slightly different?0 -

If you fit the lower shaft from the 318 at the same time it should nullify any problems.
The fork is designed for 80- 130mm travel adjust and uses the same chassis to house both sets of internals, so you should be able to fit the 318 damper into the chassis with no problems.0
