Loads of cyclists out last night. What was going on?

So, I noticed at around 9 pm last night, there were a hell of a lot of cyclists around, they all seemed to be following the same route.
Then on my way home well after midnight, there were still people riding, along the same route.
Was there some kind of event or something going on in North Wales last night?

Ah, that would explain why they were generally cycling AWAY from Rhyl then?

endurance race i think. guy came into the bike shop asking for lights as he'll be doing a 24hour race at the weekend in wales

Ah, that makes sense. There seemed to be al sorts of bikes, so I was assuming it wasn't a "normal" road race.
