Pedal Scraping on the floor when cornering

Whenever I corner at a fast speed and lean into the turn on the downstroke of the foot which matches the way i'm turning (e.g left foot when turning left) I keep hitting the floor which makes a nasty scraping sound and throws me off balance.
What is the problem here? Am I leaning into the turn too much?

Your inside foot should always be at the top position when turning to avoid exactly this problem.***** Pro Tour Pundit Champion 2020, 2018, 2017 & 2011 *****0

I thought if you were cornering fast and low then you should stop peddling and do as above?0

Oh okay, I seemed to remember reading somewhere that I shouldn't stop pedalling throughout a turn. I guess I can just put the corresponding pedal upwards, but I kind of like the feeling of spinning my way through a curve rather than just freewheeling it.0

Do you also like the feeling of eating gravel.0 -
IMHO I would have thought it a case of peddling in the ones you can, but when you make a judgement that its going to be too low then stop peddling for a couple of seconds until the really low bit has gone, as you say, its nice to peddle in a bend, but only to a point thats safe to do so. At least thats what I do, be it right or wrong0

Inside pedal up and weight down on outside pedal works for me.0

Pedal Into a turn and out of it as you straighten... Never IN the turn... that's just wacky dangerous!0

IMO fixies belong in a Velo or a Circus.. not on the roads =P

If I'd have pedalled here, I'd have been off on every lap!!!!

Jesus, nice work.
That's serious cornering, makes me wonder how you got dropped showing that type of commitment.0 -

Looks to me like a lot of it it down to kahoona size, nice going
Tyres usually stick really really well in the dry, right up to the point where they don't0 -
Didnt some wise oracle of cycling say "Your bottle will go before your grip"?
I remember reading that somewhere....0 -

Hmmmm, I seem to remember I was, I think I placed 4th in that race.....
As for grip, if the surface is half decent, dry and you've got decent tyres, then you have OOOODDDLLLEESSS of grip, way, way more than most people have got the bottle to push.0 -
Impressive, but the "before edit" photo explains it all.

You must be shifting if you hit pedal. I often pedal through corners in races, sometimes I do just touch floor but not often.
Would not try it down hill though only in crits.0
