Praying that the volcano stays quiet tomorrow so I can see the whole stage.

I'd get leathered if my wife knew I called her that.

Indeed, just looked through his post history. Definitely sounds like schoolboy rantings, mostly against Cavendish (or Cavy as he likes to call him)...

Nice tricky finish too today. So much for ES calling it as one for the sprinters.
    Tomorrow should be good.

No sign of Frenchie....must have spontaneously combusted when Contador jumped!

Seriously though, good win from Gatto and a very clever move from Contador, imagine all the GC guys were expecting each other to try and save their legs for tomorrow. 17 seconds could be crucial.

I managed to offend Robbie Hunter on twitter by saying that it's exciting when the 'sprint' stages aren't guaranteed in ending in a sprint. He said 'we may as well just go home for you' and said I was silly :) see, he does know me!

Good question Graham Watson said on Twitter.

Do you think Contador was showing his strength today? Or do you think he is not in form and attacked to gain seconds today fearing he might lose them tomorrow?

I think Contador was keeping himself in a good position at the front of the bunch to make sure he didn't lose time. And then when no-one started chasing Catto he realised there were no teams up there to pull Catto back and decided to go for it himself too.

I think it was purely opportunistic from a strong positive racer. The bigger question is why there were no teams pulling Catto back.

Well put. Easily this makes sense. Will know soon enough when he is quoted.

He is definitely talking a good game for tomorrow, expecting big gaps.

Stage 7, TDF 09. Arcalis - Contador takes 21secs from the GC group in the last few km.

I am warming to Contador after todays dig. Very sharp.

I hope it was instinct and not Riis shouting over the radio..

Looking back to the 90s in the Tour de france, I remember lemond and breukink attacked in the first few stages and got some time to then be blown away in the montains.
Also at the Tour in the 90s, Indurain attacked on a stage near Liege where he dragged bruyneel with him for the next day to win the TT and the Tour so Contador attacking is tricky.

The question of AC not quite being up with the pace yesterday could be a bluff or was it today that was the bluff. I don't know; which is of course the best bit!!

When he tweeted about the Peta/Cav incident I asked him 'how could you see from that far back?'

I think dirty bertie is scared that he isn't in form.

If you were in good form and an excellent climber like Contador is then why would you feel the need to go and attack to gain seconds? Surely you would know you could make it up in the mountains?

He did the same thing last year in the TdF. When Schleck went up the road and he couldn't catch him I think it worried Bertie, hence why he attacked a mechanical to gain seconds.

Obviously we will see this afternoon and Contador could blow everyone away.

I'm sure FF will be along soon to tell me I'm wrong but the proof will come this afternoon.

(I hope Contador is in form as he is my GC PTP pick)

Good question. as far as HTC, they were babysiting Cavy, and were not allowed to race.

My PTP is getting messed up by stage finishes that are tougher than the profile and descriptions suggest on the website!
