Well after not having a MTB of my own for a while I finnaly got a fury. Had a few parts laying around frome other builds ( straightline grips , blacksire bashring , odessey twisted pedals ) so put these on and got a pro VIP sadle and truvativ aka 80mm stem , fitted it all and now feels spot on :) after having a fair few " high end" bikes I have to say I'm loving the bike , still don't like SRAM triggers as I prefer the two way shimano levers but other than that it's all good

    I approve!

The SRAM triggers... I know what you mean, but they've grown on me now... Jumped back on to my old bike and immediately started pushing the Shimano shifters the wrong way.

Enjoy it.. And good move on replacing the stock saddle, my arse is killing me today.

The original seat lasted about 1mile :) was like a plank of wood ! Never got used to SRAM , had x9 shifters on my reign zero that worked great but still missed the index finger shifts :(

That is a really pretty looking bike, not blingy but classy looking.

That Truvativ stem looks pretty damn good, missed that the first time round.

Stem was only £24 of e bay :) really sets it of I think and is now fealing less stretched, next will be some new bars as I have wide shoulders and the originals are to narrow , hope to be getting some nuke proof warheads 760mm should be enough.

Forgot to update , after about 3 weeks of use this just kept getting problems :( forks were leaking a little from day 1, thought it was just cheap seals but there was a problem with the internals so were swaped , freehub body broke , paid to replace this myself as halfords were there usual useless selves , said there wasn't a problem , then agreed that it was broken but said it was my fault !!! And the icing on the cake was the bb developed alot of play , was told this was normal by one of the staff and to tighten it , after explaining it was a cartridge bb and getting know where I finally had enough . Bike was put back to original and sold . Can honestly say that I had more trouble with this in a month than any other bike in the last 10 years . Halfords staff at my branch are idiots and I would end up telling and showing them how to fix thinks ( I was a mechanic in a shop a few years ago ) and customer service in general is cr@p. Would I buy another carrera ? No chance , I was so glad to see the back of this and am now riding a cheap towsend to work that cost me £20 :) if you own a fury and it works well enjoy it while it lasts X

    Bad service at Halfords?

    Surely not.

Anything that looks to good to be true often is !!! Thought I would simply buy the bike and have no more to do with halfords to be honest as I get parts from the net and fix /repair stuff myself , but this was beyond a joke . Can't honestly see any point in wasting money upgrading these , would rather spend a little more money in the first place and buy from a shop where there bikes are built correctly , and show good customer service . But if people are still willing to fund halfords cr@p service and products then nothing will change for the better .

Just to balance the thread,my Fury has been well used. With regular maintenance and has been problem free for 2 years.Must say it hasnt been near Halfords since i picked it up.
I have also been willing the bb to play up so i have an excuse to fit an slx crankset but it just keeps going.
I am saving for a full suss, but i will be keeping it as a project (as long as the wife doesnt find it,"why do you need two bikes"bla bla).

Not a fury, but i have had a year and a half of Trouble free ownership of my Carrera. It was set up well by my local Halfords (Halfords Bolton) and i would probably get another if i was in the same situation.

As I said enjoy them if they work, two guys I work with have bikes from halfords and both have constant problems . More to do with the shop than the product !! Just glad the damn think is gone
