A tarty question - What colour should I add to the bike.

I have a quite discreet colour scheme on my bike at the moment and am planning to freshen up the bike with new bar tape (with gel pads underneath) and cables, I'm wondering about adding some colour to liven things up a touch

This is how the bike looks at the moment.

I have a Specialized Propero in this colour scheme:

And these shoes:

Now the logical colour to go with is red, But how much? I was thinking of buying the fizik red/black bar tape and a set of jagwire red cables?

Are there any more subtle bits I could do to add a bit of individuality to it? I don't want it to look like I'm making a cheap bike look expensive but it would be nice to mate it "mine"

Thanks :)

red cables and ultremo r1 red tyres.

i think full red bartape would be slightly excessive :D

Full red tape was just thrown in to the poll as a tester, To be honest I'd never go for it as it's a bit much imo :)

I'm not keen on changing tyres just yet as the GP4000s are still fairly new, Once they need changing I'll go for a set of ultremo R1s. (Good call, hadn't thought of doing that  )

Red cables could look very good. Not sure about the bar tape in red, it could work but a bit much for me. I like the saddle and tape to match, but a red saddle would be hideous!

Much easier to pop a couple of red bottle cages on to give it a splash of colour - Specialized and Elite to very good cages in red. I use the Elite ones my self and you pick them up cheaply enough online.

you will gain noticeable speed if you go red everything!

Maybe white bar tape + red everything? I'd just go red everything everywhere though

White tape & red cables/cages is a winner

no no no no no! No white tape

I commute on the bike so as much as I wash my hands during work, It just takes on rushed end of day and I have grubby hands then grubby bar tape. Sorry white tape is a non-starter for me :D

Red is too obvious. Introduce another.

    Green would be good.

    Yellow could be even better.

Silver grey tape & cables. There's too many bikes with excessive red bits, and you've plenty on your helmet & shoes.

You NEED red / black combo colour tyres to offset the black rims and soon to be fitted red bar tape and red cables :)

Was off visiting friends in Hemingford grey (huntingdon area) this weekend so popped into Grafham cycling to see if they had the red/black fizik tape but sadly no joy.

They had the white/red version but I think I want the other.

Really impressed with the shop and great staff too. Offered to order the tape for me but 70 miles is a bit far to collect :P I will order it online.

Gumwall tyres. Veloflex Paves/Masters in 22C. Available with red tread if you insist but black would be my choice.

You defo need anodised red valve covers, quick releases, stem spacers and seatpost.

As said before Spesh bottle cages in red and bottles with red tops.

I have all of these and I even got some red spd pedals and Sram Red groupset (a little too far I know) all fitted to my naked carbon frame.

    Red and black rules!

One of these is a must. That'd look sweeet.
