I use this
1 for £20 or 4 for £50 from the manufacturer on ebay. When I first started looking for them they were 1 for £40 but I searched harder and found the manufacturer selling them on ebay.
There are cheaper and/or louder versions available, but this one got the highest rating on LFGSS and those guys know their locks.
The cable lock you linked to looks like a decent pair of wire cutters could cut through the cable but the alarmed padlock is a bit more substantial.
Being a padlock it is probably impossible to lock your bike to anything due to its size, so I either use it in conjunction with another lock or if I'm popping into a shop I lock it around the chainring and chain so that the bike can't be wheeled away (I ride fixed) without it going off or if it was picked up it would also make a racket.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

Waste of time. The cable looks thin enough to pull apart with your bare hands and thieves are not scared of alarms because they know quite well that no one takes any notice of them.
I see no harm in incorporating an alarm to a proper lock though.0 -
Alarms only work if you are in earshot of what is alarmed and can get to it in time to prevent it getting nicked or at least disturb the thief.
I'm hoping that the shock value of a bike being alarmed would be enough to make the thief run away. It may be a forlorn hope.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

I was thinking it may be useful along with my locks.
Will give it some more thought.0
